The home page of your site is unique from all the other pages of your site.  To edit the content of your home page, click on the "Edit Home Page" link on the "Page List" of your site. It is on the top left of the Page List (highlighted in yellow below)

 

 

 

Then browse to your Word Document containing the content you want on your home page.  Click "Open"… then "Upload"   and you're done!
