There are many reasons a link can break, taking visitors to the 404 Error page (Page Not Found). Here are some of the most common edits which break hyperlinks: 

 

·         Changing the name of a web page 

·         Moving a web page to a new section 

·         Deleting a web page 

·         Changing the name of a file for download 

  

When any of the above occurs, you will want to check all pages on your website, as applicable, to make sure links are still working correctly.
